After a hearty dinner of pizza, soda, and Halloween candy, we loaded up for the drive. The music was {loud}, the laughter was infectious, and we were there before I knew it. Quickly moving through the long line, we chatted and listened to the DJ rocking the parking lot. The group was atwitter the closer we got to the entrance.
Watching the kids screaming, jumping and laughing as characters came out of the shadows to scare them was all the entertainment one needs. I laughed more last night than I have in awhile.
Not one to be easily startled, I did get a solid scare. Thinking back, I was the perfect pick. The line stalled and as we stood in place, I looked around. There was a statue to my right that had a body that was distinctly female topped with a head that was distinctly male. As my brain tried to process the validity of this, I lost awareness of the things happening around me. Focusing so intently was my downfall. He gave a lapse of 8 or 10 seconds and then jumped forward towards me.
It's been a long stretch since I've moved so fast. I pulled back and to the side so hastily I almost ran myself into the wall. A moment passes and I hear one of the dads laughing hysterically. Apparently, he was more entertained by my shock than the hermaphroditic creature in front of us.
That said, I love this adventure and look forward to the trip next year.
