Broken dishwasher 59/365

Late night dish washing by my eldest ended a very long day.

I am missing Florida 57/365

When I look at this photo, I can feel the warmth of the air blowing past me as I cruise through town on my parents golf cart.
I can hear my dad laughing at cartoons on the television.
I hear my sister is talking to my mom in the kitchen.
I am being asked to set the table for dinner like I did when I lived with my parents.
I can feel the sun touching my winter skin.
I can see the sun setting over the lake and smell steaks being cooked on a grill.

I miss Florida.

P.S. Hi Uncle Joe!

So, what's your favorite part of school? 55/365

All I had to do was ask a few questions and she proceeded to give me the funniest answers along with the cutest facial expression.

2.23.2013

Look into my eyes 54/365

She was such a good sport modeling for me. Giggling and laughing and making faces, I saw her seven year old personality shining.

P.S. The Sharpie on the stones was her idea.

Good-bye Florida 53/365

Your warm evening devoid of humidity and bugs were the perfect end to our winter break. The sweet smell of honeysuckle tickled our noses as we rode the golf cart around the lake. I'm going to miss this as I prepare to drive back to 44 degrees and rain.

I love winter break! 50/365

...and the ability of my daughter to chauffeur me around while I soak in the surroundings

Today. Flashing back to pay phone days. 49/365

Trying to explain pay phones to my students results in blank stares. As I walked out of the rest area, there was a line of them...and they still worked. Oh, where were my students that evening?

Today. Downtime. 48/365

In between prelims and finals, they ate and read.

And my girl savored the joy of her first Jr. National cut in the 100 butterfly.

What a great end to a long weekend.

Late night dinner with my girl 47/365

After a long day swimming, she requested a Varsity naked dog and a frozen orange. Who am I to deny the girl?

Dinner date 46/365

We enjoyed a day-late Valentine dinner with one another at a local pub and were pleasantly surprised. The service was prompt, the food was plentiful, and the company was awesome. I love you my dear sweet husband.

Hark, the sun is shining 45/365

and all is well with my soul.

Today there is gray a hanging over me 44/365

Not in a depressed kind of way but in a sucking-the-creativity-out-of-me kind of way. Truth be told, it's been hanging around for a few days. Ok, maybe a week. I like colors and strong contrast but gray skies make everything...gray. I'm looking forward to getting out of this valley and into the sunshine. Looking to the light always makes things better.

Birds of a feather 42/365

My daughter and I were gifted this feather from a man who raises peacocks on his property. What an awesome sight watching an ostentation of birds strutting their stuff.

Today. Matthew 5:16. 41/365

In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Untimely awakenings 40/365

Truth be told, I'm not a fan of early mornings. I'm more of a wake-when-your-body-says-get-up kind of gal. But I must admit, once I'm up I enjoy the quiet of the house. The silence before everyone begins their day is a great time for reflection and preparation.

2.08.2013

Oh, the rain 39/365

I'm all about getting some rain however I'M OVER IT! Stop already. It's cold and it's wet and it's winter and I've had enough already.

2.07.2013

A glimpse into my day 38/365

My days are full to the gills with a little of this and a little that. And I'd have it no other way.

2.06.2013

Today. Cold to the bone. 37/365

Today was one of those days I just couldn't get warm. No matter how many layers of clothes I put on or how many hot liquids I ingested, my innermost being shivered. I sat in front of the floor heater working on class work. I piled under blankets and warmed my feet with the hair dryer. Nada. I stayed cold. I'll be glad tomorrow is another day. Hopefully I'll be warmer.

On a side note, I'm reading Wild by Cheryl Stryker. Easy read but my goodness, she recounts times when she wears everything she has and wakes up to ice to on the tent and a frozen water bottle. As much as I'd like to hike for long periods of time, the idea of extreme temperatures in either direction is a total turn-off.

Always practicing 36/365

First thing after school, she's down in the back yard shooting. And she stays down there until her fingers hurt or she gets tired, which ever comes first.

I must admit, I get a thrill hearing the solid thwack as the arrow solidly hits its target.

2.04.2013

Chicken and hen 35/365

I remember these growing on the side of my parents house. They were always there, through the summer's heat and through winter's freezing snow. Having them at my house now, as a grown up, reminds me of being young and running barefoot through the grass, over the hill, and into the garage to grab something or other.
They were always there.

The colors that promise spring 34/365

The colors of these tulips pulled me across the store when I ran in to grab a few things. Delicate with smooth edges, they are a promise of warmer weather.

Stairway to knowledge 33/365

I enjoyed a Lightroom class at Serenbe Photography Center today with 6 other photographers. As we all sat around a large table listening to the instructor, I found myself smiling at the banter going back and forth as everyone tried the things the instructor shared with us. When total strangers come together to acheive a same goal, the results are sweet.

Soaking up the sunshine 32/365

As he ages, he's drawn to the warmth of the sun. We opened the front door and within minutes, there he was lying in the thin sliver of light.

Probably warming himself, wondering how long until dinner.
