Finding the light 8/365

Wanting to be more consistent with the quality of photos I take led me back to a class with Clickin Moms. It began Monday and part of the assignment for week one is finding light and taking photos there. I've always loved gazing at images that use the light to their advantage but I can't seem to make that happen. Understanding the concept and producing it in your photos are two very different things,

This morning as I walked on the treadmill, I noticed great light coming in through the window. It's on the east side of the house so the morning rays were filtering through the trees, past the slats of the blind, and falling on the arm of the sofa. Something clicked in my mind and I jumped off the treadmill and pulled the cord so the light could stream in. Climbing back on to finish my workout, I noticed the patterns on the sofa. My mind raced through everything I've been reading. Things were starting to come together. So today, if you need me, I'll be playing with the light.
